Vermeer's in the World: Europe

The 36 generally accepted Vermeer's are divided between Europe (22) and America (14). Between New York and Washington (350 kilometers apart) there are eleven paintings a a twelfth attributed work, Girl with a Flute, can been seen in the National Gallery in Washington along with the unanimously accepted works. Between Amsterdam and The Hague (60 kilometers apart) there are seven Vermeer paintings including many of his best works.

Vermeer's Concert, once housed in the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, was stolen in March 18, 1990 and has not been recovered since. If you have any information regarding this theft, please report it to the FBI Art Theft Program. More information can be found by clicking here.
