A Maid Asleep by Johannes Vermeer

A Maid Asleep
Johannes Vermeer

The description of this painting seems to fit very well A Maid Asleep in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This painting is Vermeer's earliest (c.1656-1657) known painting in the Dissius collection. Perhaps Van Ruijven felt that Vermeer’s earlier works of historical and religious themes were not of great artistic significance.
